“He is not here, He has been raised to new life!”
Easter Vigil is one of my all-time favorite masses to go to in the Catholic Church. Yes, it is long…3 hours long. Yes, sometimes I don’t fully understand the chants….”Bless the bees that provided the wax for this Easter candle.” But attending Easter Vigil allows you to participate in something special: the sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation, fully uniting those who have been preparing for months and months with their God and new church family. Pretty cool, right? I was blessed to have the opportunity to stand beside my good friend, Dylan, to bear witness to his initiation into the church as his Confirmation sponsor. Here are the pictures that I tried to nonchalantly snap throughout the service:
Now, I’m not a pyro. But FIRE!!
The service started outside beneath the bell tower.
We celebrated the first half of the mass by candlelight.
And then it was time to
dunk Baptize Dylan!
How’s the water?
Dylan was shivering a bit there at the end.
Mass continued with Confirmation and then the celebration of the Eucharist.
And a party song, courtesy of our FANTASTIC chapel choir…steel drums and all manner of good things!
Congratulations, Dylan! I’m so happy for you!
Happy Easter all!
