We arrived at St Clair Brown Winery and my first thought was, “Where is it? Ok, Siri….get your act together!” But we were in fact in the correct location!
This gem of a winery is located in town, a complex split between a restaurant-in-progress, complete with a brewery (RIGHT?! Microbrews in Napa?!), and a charming garden and greenhouse kitchen across a little street.
We walked into the garden and sat down in the shade of several umbrellas. The dining area was inclosed by the garden itself, and we enjoyed looking for the ripening fruits and vegetables as we peeked at the menu. Everything prepared is either from their garden, or from a local business. One of the owners greeted and familiarized us with the menu, making suggestions and telling us the story of the company. Developed in 2010, the owners began their vision of a company based on how they liked to live; local treasures, changing with the season, and a welcoming atmosphere. It was WONDERFUL, and I cannot wait to see how their company grows (not to mention, I cannot wait to come back to sample their beer!).
We ordered flights of wine, sampling the Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Rose of Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon.
For snacks, we ordered family style.
Hummus, made with peanuts.
And a wicked cheese board. Honey for drizzling and extra magnificence!
If you’re in the area, you MUST stop at this winery. It’s small right now and feels like a wonderful secret. The staff are so personable and their passion for this company is refreshing and exciting.
