Here in San Antonio, there is a chain of “spirits and fine food” stores called Specs, each lorded over by the disturbing, Donnie Darko-like rabbit that plays mascot to the establishment.
Am I wrong to say this rabbit looks like it has bad intentions?
But enough of that…WINE!
Many of you may know that my family currently lives near Napa Valley (*pauses for outcries of jealousy), and therefore most of the wine I have had the honor of consuming hails from that region. But the other day, I wandered into that creepy rabbit’s lair in search of something new, something deviating from the California wines I know and love.
The specs wine guru suggested I try a South American Cab, Argentinean to be exact. BenMarco.
Was it bold and full flavored? Yes. And look at that gorgeous black cherry color!
Did it hit some lovely dark berry notes and smokey oak flavors? Absolutely! I’m no expert when it comes to wine tasting, but I actually could taste particular flavors, and that alone was enough for me to quickly cross over to the BenMarco side. So go on, try a glass or 3 and enjoy the bold flavor of BenMarco Cabernet Sauvignon.
