A Proper New Orleans Feast

I want you to think about the tastiest thing you have ever eaten. Now forget about it. What I am about to show you will blow your mind.

New Orleans

Let me first set the mood……oil lamps hanging delicately from iron sconces. Jazz riffs echoing through alley ways, their sources hidden just beyond sight. A dull hum of conversation floating down to the cobblestone street corners as diners watch snap shots of New Orleans pulse by from their balcony seating. But the serenity is interrupted suddenly by a parade of bead-draped tourists!

We strolled along these vibrant streets in search of Royal House, a restaurant that seemed to be pretty popular with the folks over at Yelp. We were in for a treat!

And now, for the main event, the Appetizer! ……………..the appetizer? Oh yes, a Redfish Beignet.

New Orleans

Savory and sweet, the redfish was perfectly cooked, and the pastry surrounding it was delightfully crisp. Topped with powdered sugar, I was ready to throw my plate against the wall and yell, “I like it…ANOTHER!”

We ordered a half dozen oysters as well, and after trying one, I let JP enjoy the rest of the oysters on his own.

We split a main course of Chicken & Andouille Jambalaya, Crawfish Etouffée and Seafood Gumbo.

All of that combined with a cocktail or two and we were set!

We walked off our feast, stopping to listen to another jazz band.

If there is such a thing as a perfect evening, this was as close as it could possibly get.

Xx,
