We never like to take a trip that is strictly work related. There should always be an element of fun!
So when Alex decided to buy a couch from our other friend Jamie up in Austin, we decided that it would be a great excuse to spend too much on food and explore a new park. After a quick trip to IKEA (AKA the magical Swedish furniture kingdom), we stopped off at North By Northwest.
NXNW is a cool local brewery and restaurant created by Davis Tucker as an ode to the the many breweries concentrated in the Northwest. Obviously that makes me happy having spent 4 years in Portland, OR.
On a side note….we ate at 3:00pm, so as you can see the place was packed! Normally, it is much busier.
We started with an artichoke dip.
And then moved on to the fried cornbread with mushrooms and goat cheese.
Followed by a sampling of beer.
Erika got the fried chicken sandwich. We were drawn to the sandwiches since they came with a glittering pile of garlic parmesan fries!
Jamie went for the burger.
I went for the chicken club.
And Alex got the linguini.
After eating and drinking, we worked off some of the calories at Mary Moore Searight Disc Golf course. You haven’t met cool people until you’ve met Frolfers, or Frisbee Golfers. I opted out since last time I hit every living creature we played with (dog and human). Got a bit snap happy, but these were my favorites.
It was a beautiful day with friends! Made even better by the cigar smoking, blue-toothed, “F***ing lovin’ it” disc golf pro who passed us with a Clint Eastwood like cool.
