Where are my nerds at?
I LOVE halloween! Well, more accurately, I love dressing up in costumes. This year, Erika and I got ambitious and sewed our costumes. You heard me, sewed.
I felt like Martha freaking Stewart, sewing at a lightening speed and imagining sewing all of my clothes for the rest of eternity. Will that actually happen? Absolutely not. But I’m pretty sure I’ll be able to sew a decent costume for my child one day. “How do they do this so fast on Project Runway??” We say to each other as we continue to jam the sewing machine.
Now for the costumes!
Erika and Rollin went as Bam Bam and Pebbles.
Alex as Duffman.
Nicholas dressed up as my cat, Roo.
Though he had to fight all of the little girls at the costume store for the cat ears. I just about died of laughter!
And I dressed as Khaleesi, Mother of Dragons. So my nerds, I salute you!
This Halloween, we opted not to throw a party (even though our party last year was WAY fun). This year-another year older and wiser- we decided to do what sophisticated older people do…..FORE!
Yes, Top Golf. A brilliant invention for those with golfing talent and those that just like to hit a small object as hard as they can with a club. I am a fan of these all encompassing activities.
It was the night of the Halloween Ball at Top Golf. Though it was more of an “almost party.” Basically, there was a costume contest and a dance off. Despite our best efforts, we did not win the costume contest, and the golfing steadily got worse as the night and the drinking went on.
The food was pretty good too! Quesadillas, burgers, chicken and waffles…
But this was a great alternative to the exhausting, albeit fun, bar hopping on St Mary’s Street, or hour drive up to “party hardy Austin.”
So what did the rest of you get up to? Any great costumes? I’d love to hear about them!
Happy Halloween! Cheers to the Holiday Season Kickoff!
