Hawaii: The Magic of Living

Day 4:

Julia and I started our fourth day in Hawaii at a restaurant called Cinnamon’s. I think we were the grubbiest people in there, hiking gear table side, bandanas tied, trace amounts of mud on feet and legs. Yes, the adventuring never stops! We split the two specials: Fajita breakfast burrito and Macadamia Nut/Chocolate explosion of happiness french toast.

Hawaii: The Bare Necessities

Day 3:

I think the longer you live and the farther you travel, you begin to realize how little you need and how little you really want. And my prediction is that years from now, on my deathbed, I will realize that all I really wanted from life was to walk barefoot through beautiful lands with the sort of people who illuminate the world with kindness and good vibrations. And maybe to swim so far that I actually transform into a mermaid…

Notes from the Southwest: Arrival and Zion

As some of you may know, I recently took a camping trip through the magnificent Southwest USA. Below are the journal entries I made along the way:

7 June 14, 1830

Off we go! I’m sitting in the Sacramento airport bubbling over in excitement! Though my flight is about an hour late, in a short time I will be flying into Las Vegas (a total pit if you ask me….) to begin my Southwest National Park tour extravaganza. Adventure, ladies and gentlemen, IS out there. I’ve got Samwise the Brave (AKA, my osprey) along for the ride and we are both bursting at the seams.
